Installation Guide
The installation of ground screws is straightforward:
Soil Assessment
- Analyze the type of soil and possible obstructions at the site. Check for the presence of water pipes, gas lines, or electrical cables before installation.
- In loose soils, it is recommended to use longer ground screws; in heavy and compact soils, shorter lengths are generally sufficient.
- In hard clay soils, it is recommended moisten the area and soften the top 5–10 cm of the soil.
Positioning
- Mark the positions of each stake accurately according to the construction plan.
- At the installation points, drive a steel bar (rebar) to mark the spot and create a guide hole for screwing.
- The steel bar also allows for checking if there is any obstruction in the soil that may hinder the installation.
- As an alternative, you can use a long masonry drill with a diameter of 12–20 mm to create the pilot hole. This is especially recommended when the soil contains gravel, debris or land-fill material.
Driving the ground screw
- Insert the tip of the ground screw into the previously prepared guide hole. In softer soils the guide hole is optional.
- Use a mounting bar (or a wooden beam in the case of U-type ground screws) to screw the ground screw to the desired depth. Any steel bar / rebar up to 16mm can be used.
- During the screwing process, check the verticality with a bubble level.
- Ideally, the ground screw should be fully screwed down to the mounting hole. It is better to extend up with wooden post rather than leaving the ground screw out.
- When it is necessary to compensate for height differences, the stake must be screwed in at least above the conical part, ensuring that the surrounding soil is properly compacted.
Verification and leveling
- After installation, it is essential to carefully check the alignment and leveling in relation to the other ground screws.
- If necessary, adjust the position of the ground screw to ensure that all are properly aligned and leveled before securing the structure.
Securing of the structure
- The fastening method depends on the type and shape of the ground screw chosen and the material to be anchored.
- It is always important to ensure a secure fastening; in the case of wooden structures, use wood screws with a wide head or screws specifically designed for fastening metal connections.

- Corrosion Protection: Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG)
- Driving steel bar: max 16 mm diameter
- Lifetime: The buried part of the ground screw is protected with a hot-dip zinc coating (minimum thickness of 35 µm). The service life is determined based on the level of corrosive aggressiveness and zinc loss.

- Before installation, the geological profile of the land must be checked – soil conditions – and the actual load capacity confirmed based on a geotechnical study or engineering-geological survey.
